Podzemno Skladište Plina d.o.o. Achieves Record Delivery of Gas

February 3, 2011

Podzemno Skladište Plina d.o.o. (PSP d.o.o.) has achieved a record delivery of gas amounting to 280 000 m3/h. Until the takeover of PSP d.o.o. at the beginning of 2009 by Plinacro d.o.o., the national gas transmission operator, the storage facility's technological maximum amounted to 240 000 m3/h.

The increase in capacity by 40000 m3/h was the outcome of investment activities achieved to date for the upgrading of the Okoli storage facility, with the goal of further increasing gas withdrawal and extraction capacities, as well as the operational working volume of the storage facility.

The above delivery was achieved as part of the test run of the underground gas storage system in Okoli, approved by the Ministry of Economy, Labor and Entrepreneurship. The system is being tested under conditions of operations of the new, increased maximum capacity of gas delivery.

In addition to this, PSP d.o.o. is working intensively on obtaining a concession for the construction of the new underground gas storage facility in Grubišno Polje, which should be placed into operation by the end of 2014, and which has been proclaimed an investment project of significant interest for the Republic of Croatia in the energy public sector.

The test run of the underground gas storage system in Okoli, with a capacity of 280 000 m3/h, is the result of excellent cooperation between PSP d.o.o. and Plinacro, which prepared the transport system and managed it in order to ensure the conditions for the acceptance of additional quantities of gas from the storage facility. Cooperation was also excellent with the company Prirodni plin d.o.o., which, for the needs of the trial run, optimized the quantities of gas at input and output locations of the transport system of the Republic of Croatia.

In the Okoli underground gas facility, there are currently 380 million cubic meters of gas, which is nearly 100 million more than on this date one year ago. In this manner PSP d.o.o. once again confirmed that it is carrying out its role in the gas system of the Republic of Croatia - storing gas in a safe and reliable manner along with the continued development and modernization of the gas system.
